I did this piece in watercolor & india ink at 3 am when i was rather pissed -- i think it shows. I tapped into my emotions completely and this just poured out onto a scap piece of matboard. I felt alot better afterwards and i'm happy with the painting. Unpolished, raw and ugly - just what i wanted.

Very cool effect! I like the contrast between the brightness of the colors and the emotion of the face.

I am pleased with it too... it's so nice... and pretty/ugly. but I see pretty in that kind of thing.


(just out of intrest... why is the thumbnail so small?

That's friggin' wicked. The raw and ugly nature plays well against the bright colours, which descend into darker colours as they approach the mouth. I really feel the scream. I love this.

This really reminds me of Ralph Steadman's art. Very distorted and ugly, which is geat.
Great use of color instead of shadowing with black.
Overall I really like it.

whoa and bravo! this is a really intense painting, the watercolor blotches seem to land right where they need to. it's really energetic and...uh, well...primal! it's pretty cathartic just looking at it! :clap:

The use of colour is amazing, and the splotches and splatters really keep the picture fluid which adds to the feeling of madness and rage. I've painted while pissed before and it's never looked this good.

Thanks a lot. All i rember that night is not caring what came off the brush besides emotion, and then going back and cleaning it up a bit. I usually don't work this vividly, but it seemed appropriate.
